The collapsed guest house of the Synagogue Church of All Nations has continued to earn a big space in the media. Presently, the number of causalities involved in the building has been put at 84 by the South African Ambassador.
Although, this figure conflicts with the one released by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) as the agency claimed 78 South Africans died in the unfortunate incident.
However, President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday, September 20th visited the site. He was accompanied by the National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Muazu while Pastor TB Joshua and the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire were on ground to receive the president.
In his speech, the President expressed condolence to the families of the victims, and the General Overseer of the church, Pastor TB Joshua. He also assured that the Federal Government will deploy the machinery to ensure that investigations into the cause of the collapse were treated speedily.
President Jonathan also said he will convene a meeting with state governors to discuss the need for advice or measures that will check illegal erection of high rise buildings.
